I was born in 1965 on an island in the Baltic See, and lived most of my school and study years in Hamburg . Since I can remember I have been passionate about art especially drawing and painting. However another interest of mine has been and still is the social and psychological side of human live. With this in mind I studied social science and health education in Hamburg and Munich.

I enjoyed working in this field until moving to Australia in 1998.  Here the light conditions, outdoor living, and the influence of the spiritual Aboriginal artwork brought me back to drawing and painting

As a lot of my painting is self-taught and based on experimenting, reading, lifelong learning and observing, I am influenced by a mixture of different techniques, ideas and artists. This composition of various thoughts and impressions forms the base of my work.

On the other hand social science taught me to look beneath the surface and imagine the connections and interactions of a complex world.  Combining the process of painting and the intensive observing and studying of what lies beneath the subject is what interests me the most.

Making emotions and experiences not only visible but also tangible is important to my work
